Klegstad, (Nee Trott) age 86, of West Bend, passed away on Monday January 17, 2005 at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center. She was born on May 5, 1918 on the family homestead farm in the Town of Addison to the late William and Susanna (Nee Rosenthal) Trott. Susanna was married to Arnold Desens in West Bend in 1937; he preceded her in death in 1964. In 1979 she was married to Noren Klegstad in Milwaukee, he also preceded her in death in 1990. Susanna lived in West Bend until 1960 when she moved to Milwaukee. She later moved to Karlstead, MN and then back to West Bend in 1995. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in West Bend for many years. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and especially gardening. She is survived by three children, Ralph (Helen) Desens of New Lisbon, Donald (Diane) Desens of West Bend, and Virginia (Bruce) Hendrickson of Racine; eight grandchildren, Bonnie Desens, Clarissa (Jim) Rieke, David (Mary Beth) Desens, Debra (Dustin) Casey, James Young, Michael Young, Steven (Rachel) Desens, and Keith Hendrickson; five great-grandchildren, Alexandria Greider, Joseph Desens, Brandon Desens, Nicole Casey, and Allyson Casey; a brother Andrew (Vanelda) Trott of Allenton; a son-in-law Lee "Butch" Young of Milwaukee, a brother-in-law Victor Schattner of Caledonia; other relatives and friends. A daughter Rosemary Young, a sister Melinda Schattner, and three brothers Alfred Trott, Harry Trott, and William Trott preceded her in death. Funeral services for Susanna will be held on Thursday January 20th at 3:00 pm at the Myrhum ~ Patten Funeral Home, West Bend. Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday from 1:00 pm until the time of service. Entombment will follow in Washington County Memorial Park.1

John Hallstrom, Long Time Resident of County, Dies

John Hallstrom, who had made his home in Kanabec county since coming from Sweden in 1902, died at the Cambridge Nursing home Saurday, April 20, at the age of 82 years, nine months and 19 days. Mr. Hallstrom had been a patient there since February.

Funeral services for Mr. Hallstrom were held at the Quamba Baptist church Tuesday, April 23, with the Rev. Harold S. Johnson, officiating.

Pallbearers were Herbert Lidstrom, Nels Lidstrom, Clifford Hallstrom, Dallas Edlund, Robert Hallstom and Joel Hallstrom. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery at Mora. Akkerman Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

John Hallstrom, son of Jonas and Maria Hallstrom, was born July 1, 1885 in Skorped, Ongermanland, Sweden. He came to America in 1902 and settled on a farm in Comfort township. He later purchased land in Whited township where he farmed and raised his family. He was married to Carolina Lidstrom Oct. 27, 1906. They were the parents of eight sons and three daughters.

Mrs. Hallstrom died in 1942, and in 1952 he moved to a small farm in Comfort township. He was married to Inga Anderson in March 1953. They lived in Comfort township and later moved to Mora where they resided until her death in 1962. Following the death of his wife, he spent much of the time at the home of his son, Harold, and family at Quamba.

Mr. Hallstrom joined the Comfort Baptist church in 1902; this church later became the Quamba Baptist church and he continued to be an active member to the time of his death. He was an honorary deacon in the church.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mrs. Enock Nelson (Lorena), his parents, one sister and a brother, Jonas.

Mr. Hallstrom is survived by two daughters, Marian Peterson of Brook Park and Mrs. Don Richardson (Della Mae) of St. Paul; eight sons, Holgar of Mora, Hilding of Anoka, Harold and Terry, both of Quamba, Henry of Minneapolis, Carl of Hewitt, George of Colfax, Iowa, and Earl of New Ulm; two brothers, Nels Hallstrom of Mora and Ole in Skorped, Sweden; 33 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.2,3,5
