Mr. Fessler was born July 21, 1898, the child of Henry and Hilda Peterson Fessler.

December 28, 1921, he was married to Lola Churchill of Geneva. To this union were born four children; Mildred Hammel, Darrell Fessler, Mrs. Marian Helton and Duane Fessler.

Mr. Fessler retired from farming in 1963 and lived on a farm near Sutton. He is survived by his wife, Lola; two sons, two daughters, one son-in-law, two daughters-in-law, 15 grandchildren, the eldest grandson is now serving in Vietnam; four great-grandchildren, also several nephews and nieces and cousins in the United States and Canada; and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and sisters and nine half-brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were held Friday, October 10, at 3:30 p.m. in the Kohlers Chapel in Sutton, Rev. H. E. Long officiated.

Two solos, "Beyond the Sunset" and "Just a Closer Walk with Thee," were sung by Sheldon Johnson with Mrs. Johnson as accompanist. Pallbearers were Orville Oates, Eugene Huntley, Harold Everts, Albert Johnson, Merrill Barnell and Marvin Bartlett. Interment was in the Sutton Cemetery.

Those attending the funeral from out of state were Mrs. Marian Helton and family; and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Coward and Cindy Lou.

HENRY FESSLER

Henry Fessler was born in Lebanon, Berks Co., Pa. April 9, 1841 and died at his home near Sutton, Saturday afternoon, February 25, 1911. He had been in poor health for about two years but was not taken seriously till last Thursday.

The deceased emigrated to Ogle Co., Ill., in 1859. He enlisted in the army in 1861 and served two years before he was honorably discharged.

He was married to Susan Miller, Nov. 16, 1865 and to this union were born eight children four of whom survive him; William Fessler, Shickley, Nebr., John F. Fessler, Garnett, Kans., Addie Johnson Ponoca, Alberta, Canada, Mary Brasch, Ponoca Alberta, Canada, and five grandchildren.

In 1871 they moved to Iowa. His wife died July 15, 1884 and in 1885 he came to Nebraska, buying the farm which is now the home of the family. In 1889 he was married to Hilda Peterson. To this union were born six children, five of whom survive: Henry, Sophia, Susy, Dewey, Albert. Irwin died when a few months old. Hilda Fessler died March 15, 1906. He has one brother living in Pennsylvania.

The funeral services were held from the home Thursday afternoon in the presence of a very large circle of freinds and was conducted by Rev. John Calvert assisted by Rev. Trace. Interrment was made in the Sutton cemetery.

Mr. Fessler was one of our substantial citizens, a man of high standing and worth and his absence will be felt by the community as well as by the immediate family. We extend our sincere sympathy to the family which has thus had its home broken up.

Our Dear wife and mother, Mrs. Hilda Christna (sic) Fessler, was born at Calnras, Sweden on the 9th day of Nov. 1856.

Died at 20 minutes of 12 at night, March 15, 1906. Aged 49 years, 4 months, 9 days. She was confirmed in a Luthren (sic) Church. The year of 1871. Came to America in 1884. She was married to Henry Fessler on the 24th day of October in the year of our Lord 1889. Born to them were 6 children, 5 of which are living. Henry S. Fessler 14 years, Sophia C. Fessler 12 years, Susie A. Fessler 9 years, Dewey W. Fessler 7 years, Albert E. Fessler age 5 years. Irvin Fessler died when a baby. She leaves a husband and 5 children to morn her loss. 2 Brothers and 2 Sisters.

Joseph Michael Reinsch was born to Emil and Agnes Steffgen Reinsch on October 18, 1912, at Geneva and passed away on September 20, 1983, at the Fillmore County Hospital, Geneva, at the age of 70 years, 11 months and two days. He was one of three children in the family.

Joe was a lifelong resident of Geneva and attended school at District 46, south of Geneva.

He farmed south of Geneva until 1945 and then moved to the current farm one-half mile east of Geneva.

Joe was married to Lavina Weis of Geneva on June 18, 1940, and to them five children were born.

Joe was a past member of Exeter Feeders and a current member of the board of directors for Knights of Columbus. He was a former president and board member for Farm Bureau.

Joe enjoyed working his vegetable garden and raising his flowers, in particular his roses. He worked with all his children in 4-H and led the 4-H club for several years. He contributed many hours of work to the planning and landscaping of the Catholic Cemetery Addition.

He will be missed by his family and friends. His lifetime enjoyment was his love for the land and watching his crops grow.1

Lavina was married to Joseph M. Reinsch on June 18, 1940 and to them five children were born. Joe and Lavina farmed south of Geneva until 1945 and then moved to the current farm one-half mile east of Geneva.

Lavina was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Altar Society. She donated her crocheted afghans to the St. Joseph Catholic church. She has sewn and donated hundreds of quilts for Catholic charities for the needy and homeless for numerous years.

Lavina was employed by the Geneva High School in the cafeteria for 31 years. She enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens. She volunteered her time to 4-H clubs for several years.

Lavina will be missed by many. Her lifelong dedication to family and church charities will be long remembered.

Lavina was preceded in death by Joseph M. Reinsch, husband of Geneva; Brian L. Reinsch, grandson, Minneapolis, Minn.; Jason M. Reinsch, grandson, McCook; Joseph Weis, brother, Portland, Ore.; Sylvester Weis, brother, Geneva; Mildred Hayen, sister, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

She is survived by Howard and Barb Reinsch, son and daughter-in-law, Hastings; John and Naomi Reinsch, son and daughter-in-law, Lincoln, Jim and Sherri Reinsch, son and daughter-in-law, Geneva; Mary and Jim Fessler, daughter and son-in-law, Waverly; Mary O'Brien, sister, Geneva; Helen Engel, sister, Geneva; Francis Weis, brother, Salem, Ore.; and by 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Thomas McGuire saying mass.

Organist Mary Ann Najmon led the congregation in the following hymns "Here I am Lord," "Prayer of St. Francis," "Precious Lord- Lead Me Home," "Mother Dearest" was sung by soloist Jessica Burgess.

Pallbearers were Aaron J. Reinsch, Matthew F. Reinsch, Marc Reinsch, Brent Reinsch, Derek Reinsch, Curtis J. Fessler, Kyle J. Fessler and Chris Usserman.

Honorary pallbearers wer Susan Jo Krook, Jami Jo Reinsch, Kali Reinsch, Krystal Fessler, Lisa Usserman, Brian L. Reinsch (deceased), Jason M. Reinsch (deceased) and Paul McAtee.
