Died, in Spring Prairie, Wis., Feb 9, 1880, at the residence of her son, O.T. Hubbard, Esq, after a short illness, Mrs. Alfred Hubbard, in the 81st year of her age. Mrs. Hubbard was born at Windham, Green Co., N.Y. , July 2, 1799. In 1854 she with her husband and family emigrated from Mt. Morris, N.Y. to Spring Prairie, where she has resided up to the time of her death. In early life she professed faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and was a faithful follower of his teachings, leaning on his arm through along life of usefulness, ever trusting in his hand for guidance even through the valley and shadow of death. the christian's faith, the christian's hope was hers; and she passed gently down the declivity of life, over the narrow stream into the brighter lands beyond, leaving the blessed assurance behind that all is well.

In the last hours of her life she made arrangements for the last sad rites and amongst them the loving request that her sons should bear her remains to their last resting place. Her request was granted and it seemed so appropropriate that those strong and loving arms should bear Mother gently, gently to the tomb. Why trust to other hands the last and only acts of kindness and regard that loving hands may do. She leaves four sons, and two daughters beside grandchildren and other relatives to mourn her loss. The funeral services were held at the residence of O.T. Hubbard on Wednesday, 11th inst., at eleven o'clock, A.M. The children of the deceased were all present. Sermon by the Rev. Mr. Beardsley, of East Troy, of the Congregational Church, assisted by Rev. R.C. Parsons, of the M.E. Church, Lyons.

Mother, no stranger hands shall bear thy form away,
No careless ones convey thee to thy rest;
But these, thy sons, the last loved tribute pay,
To lay thee on thy Savior's breast.

Mother, did you leave the portal open,
When you reached those heavenly lands.
And shall we when life is over,
Clasp in Heaven our parent's hands?

Obituary:

DIED

Hubbard - at the residence of O.T. Hubbard, in Spring Prairie, Feb 9th, Mrs. Hannah Hubbard, in th 81st year of her age. Mrs. Hubbard was born in Windham, Green, co., N.Y.

A light from our household is gone,
A voice we loved is stilled;
A place is vacant at our home,
Which never can be filled.
A gentle heart, that throbbed
With but tenderness and love,
Has hushed its weary throbbings here,
To throb in bliss above.

Yes, to the Home where angels are,
Her trusting soul has fled;
And yet we bend above the tomb
With tears, and call her dead.
We call her dead; but ah ! we know
She dwells where living waters flow.1,14,15,5,7,8

F, b. 2 April 1889, d. 1965
Birth*2 Apr 1889 1
Marriage*1909 Kickapoo Scout, November 4, 1909: Last Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock, at the Kickapoo Synod Church, was solemnized the marriage of Tell Chester Hooverson to Miss Martha Stevelingson, in the presence of about two hundred relatives and invited guests. At the appointed hour the couple took their place under an arch decorated with similax, to the strains of a wedding march played by Prof. Skogstad. Rev. Smeby, pastor of the church, pronounced the ceremony in an impressive manner. The bride and groom were attended by Misses Nora Peterson and Martha Sherrer as bridesmaids, and Dave Stevelingson, brother of the bride, and Clarence Hooverson, brother of the groom as groomsmen. After the ceremony the guests repaired to the home of C.D. Stevelingson where a reception was held after which an elegant wedding dinner was served. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Stevelingson. She was charmingly gowned in a princess of cream messaline satin, trimmed with embroidered chiffon, ribbon and cream applique and wore a veil of illusion and carried pink carnations. The bridesmaids were daintily gowned in white and carried a bouquet of roses. The groom is the youngest son of Mrs. Bertha Hooverson. A fine array of valuable and useful presents attest to the esteem of their many friends. They will go to housekeeping on the groom's farm near Pine Knob and they have the best wishes of a large circle of friends for a bright and prosperous future.; Principal=Tell Chester Hooverson1

MotherMercy Savage1 b. 10 Apr 1706
Biography* Middle Haddam, Middlesex Co., Connecticut, USA; He lived in Middle Haddam, was a sea captain, and is said to have commanded a privateer in the Revolution that sailed out of New York, and was one fo the leaders in the Point Judith Expedition. Was commissioned captain of the militia, 1780.2
Birth1 Apr 1726 Although The Stocking Ancestry reports Abner's birth date as April 1, 1726, he is listed 2nd in the list of children (between George, born 11 May 1728 and John, born 15 August 1732). Since the Stocking Ancestry lists are otherwise, always date sequenced, I beleive that the year "1726" for Abner's birth may be a typo.1
